Welcome

The Anatomy of Complications Workshops (ACW) aim to improve the performance of specialist obstetricians and gynaecologists in the area of ‘ the prevention and management of complications in obstetric and gynaecological surgery’.

We do this by running two types of a two-day program; standard (or open) and laparoscopic.  Both provide an intensive and hands-on learning experience, conducted in state-of-the-art facilities in Perth, Western Australia.

The Workshops were conceived and developed by Clin Assoc Prof Ian Hammond and Mr John Taylor when they recognized that their specialist colleagues in obstetrics and gynaecology were not always comfortable in dealing with inadvertent injury to urological, gastrointestinal and major vascular structures. They believed that a thorough understanding of the surgical anatomy of the pelvis underpins successful and safe clinical practice and this theme is fostered throughout the workshop.
